Mentorly comes with its own built-in video calling, Mentorly Video, so every session works out of the box with no setup. If you would rather host your calls on your own Zoom account, mentors can connect Zoom instead. This article covers how to add it, use it, and remove it.
What is the Zoom integration:
If you already run your calls on Zoom, you can connect your Zoom account to Mentorly and use it for your mentoring sessions instead of Mentorly Video. Mentorly Video stays the default for every mentor and every session until you turn Zoom on, so nothing changes unless you choose to connect.
Connecting Zoom to your account:
As a mentor, you can connect Zoom from your dashboard:
-
Click on Calendar in the menu on the left-hand side of your Mentorly dashboard.
-
At the top of the page, find the Meeting settings card.
-
Next to Zoom, click Connect.
-
You’ll be taken to Zoom to log in and authorize the connection. Once you approve it, you’ll be redirected back to Mentorly and Zoom will show as connected.
Good to know: Zoom requires a paid Zoom plan (Zoom Pro or above) to connect. A free Zoom account can’t be used, because Zoom limits meetings on free accounts to 40 minutes, which isn’t long enough for most mentoring sessions.
Here’s what the Meeting settings card looks like. Try it out:

This is a preview with sample data. Nothing you do here is saved or connects a real Zoom account. You will find the real card at the top of your Calendar page.

Choosing Zoom as your meeting provider:
Connecting your account doesn’t move your sessions to Zoom by itself. You also need to choose Zoom as your meeting provider:
-
In the Meeting settings card on the Calendar page, select Zoom under Meeting provider.
-
From then on, whenever a session is booked with you, Mentorly automatically creates a Zoom meeting on your Zoom account for it.
-
The Zoom join link is included in the booking confirmation email, on the session in your dashboard, and in the calendar invite.
You can switch back to Mentorly Video at any time from the same setting. Only new sessions pick up the change; sessions already booked keep the meeting link they were created with.
Joining a session hosted on Zoom:
Joining works the same way as any Mentorly session. When it’s time for your call, click the join link from your confirmation email, your calendar invite, or the Join call button on the session in your dashboard, or click Join on Zoom if that’s what’s shown. This opens Zoom, where you and your mentor or mentee will meet.
If Zoom isn’t available:
Every so often a Zoom meeting can’t be created for a session, for example if your Zoom connection has expired. When that happens, Mentorly automatically falls back to Mentorly Video for that session, so the meeting is never lost. If you see a prompt to reconnect Zoom, head back to the Meeting settings card on the Calendar page and reconnect your account.
Disconnecting Zoom:
You can stop using Zoom for your Mentorly sessions at any time.
From Mentorly:
-
Go to the Meeting settings card on the Calendar page.
-
Click Disconnect next to Zoom.
-
Any sessions booked after this point revert to Mentorly Video.
From Zoom:
You can also remove Mentorly directly from your Zoom account. In the Zoom App Marketplace, go to Manage > Installed Apps, find Mentorly, and remove it. This disconnects Mentorly from your Zoom account right away, and Mentorly uses Mentorly Video for any new sessions from that point on.
